About Us

Editorial Assignments represents practising journalists, authors and editors. We do research and writing, editing and the production of books, reports and documents. Tell us what you need and we will source the expertise to assist, whether it be writing, editing, production, media management, publishing or research.

Several of our associates have been academics or trainers in the media & PR departments of universities and technikons. We have also worked extensively with the training units of corporates, and with community newspaper and radio organisations.

We are not an advertising or PR agency and we do not put a spin on things. Our objective is always to provide clear, consistent, honest evaluation and advice upon which your organisation can make informed editorial choices.

Our team includes non-fiction and creative writers, corporate communicators and brand managers, IT experts, and business consultants. We help newcomers to get established in the media game, either as freelances or as fulltime journalists, authors, communicators, or marketing professionals.

Editing and ghosting

We are happy to help you to wordcraft your draft ideas and output them in publishable form. To produce the professional end product we take your briefing, do extensive interviews or compile background documents and cuttings, and collate everything into the written text for editing and production. What starts as rough notes ends as the complete flowing work.


We run workshops for media teams, and can offer a broad spectrum of mentoring and media expertise in virtually every area where writing, editing and production skills are required. Workshops may be run at our elegant small-group conference centre at the Vaal River, but we also travel to other venues depending on need and availability.

Media innovation

We are particularly strong on innovation in Southern African media, having published numerous case studies and concepts to guide new publishing initiatives. The convergence of media – print, audio-visual, online and mobile – demands convergent thinking.
The transformation of organisations through black empowerment and equity principles requires new approaches to employees, shareholders, customers, suppliers, government and the public. The development of new markets, newly literate audiences, and new forms of media all impose new demands for innovative ways of communicating. We work with you to define new directions.
